Ways you and your church can help:
Church Presentation Help spread the word! We love invitations to come share what God is doing during Sunday Services or Wednesday night youth groups (or whenever your church meets!) Our presentation usually includes an informative DVD that captures the heart of the ministry. Presentations are usually scheduled as 5 min or 10 min allotments, or we can custom it to your church’s need. We also have a display board to set on a table in the foyer along with brochures.
Provide transportation Transportation is needed for campers to and from camp. If you have a church van or bus, you could help by picking up kids in St. Louis on Mondays and taking them home on Fridays, during the months of June and July. CDO will provide staff to go on the vans to pick up campers.
Sponsor campers A sponsor can be an individual, or a Sunday School class. Some churches choose Camp David for their VBS offerings, and give the children the goal of seeing how many campers they can sponsor that week.
Volunteers for Camp CDO is a wonderful place where young people and adults grow and develop a passion for God as they volunteer together to reach troubled children with the love of Christ.
Service Teams From entire church fellowships to small youth groups, we would love to host your group to help with service projects around camp.
Give financially The ministry of Camp David is made possible by the support of the Body of Christ. Please consider supporting Camp David on a monthly basis, or helping to provide monthly missionary support for one of our full-time staff persons.
Bring a camper to church Most of our campers do not have a home church, and we would love to connect campers with churches that have a heart for at-risk children in their community.

Angel Tree Backpacks Many of our local churches have participated in this in the past, and we are very grateful. The campers love the backpacks and many of them carry their new stuffed animals around with them everywhere. We love to watch the camper's faces when we hand out the birthday gifts and they realize that each of them got a personalized card from someone who cared about them.
How it works:
- Angel Tree provides the actual backpacks & Bibles for each camper. Camp David supplies water bottles and camper devotionals that go into the backpacks.
- In early May, church members take home large ziplock bags (we provide these) with instructions on how to fill each backpack, and then return them 2-3 weeks later. An average cost to fill each backpack is $25.
- Camp David staff combine the backpack items that the church members purchased, plus the Bibles, devotionals & water bottles, and assemble them for each camper.
- As part of filling the backpacks, church members also give $10 toward each camper's birthday gift, and provide a birthday card signed by them. Camp David has a birthday party each week of camp for the campers, and uses the money to purchase gifts for them.
- After camp in August, Camp David will send out thank you notes from the campers to those who filled the backpacks and provided the birthday cards & gift money. Each church member will also receive a thank you and tax donation receipt from Camp David.
If you would like to participate in the backpack program, please email us by April 15th, so we can get you the ziplock bags with instructions.
Thank you for considering being part of this program- a personal and affordable way that your church family can touch the lives of troubled kids. Backpack participants are encouraged to pray for each camper as they fill the backpacks, and we believe that prayer makes a difference.
