Camp David of the Ozarks

Hello Camp David Friends!
We are looking for many willing hands to help us finish our staff housing by March 22nd. We will be doing drywall mudding Wednesday through Friday this week, and working all day Saturday (March 14th). On Saturday we also need to paint some metal bunk beds and begin building some wooden bunk beds. We also need to clean the camp kitchen and laundry room and spread mulch.
The following week we will be painting and then trying to finish the bunk beds and get the bathroom accessories hung on Saturday March 21st.
Lunch meals will be provided for the work teams. Youth groups and construction workers are all encouraged to come. We will be working from 8:30am to 4:00pm each Saturday, so you can come for part or all of the day.

If you live out of state, or are unable to help, please keep this project in your prayers that we can finish in time to host this team of high school students!

I just found out that my main cook for the week of July 7-11 is not going to be able to come, and I already was needing helpers for that week, so if any of you could talk to your moms about helping that week or you know any adults that could help, please let me know!

Hello,

We have several projects that need done in order to make things go much smoother for our cooks at Camp David. One is a walkway needs to be cut in our kitchen shack, another is the little staff bathroom is almost finished, just needs some finishing.

Also the new addition needs to have the rest of the plywood on outside walls and then tyvek wrapped so we won’t have water keep coming in. The senior boy campers are working on the bathroom and hanging some of the plywood on the outside, but they won’t be able to complete those projects this afternoon.

If you can help this Saturday, or one evening next week, please let us know.

We are in great need of construction help on our building this week and weekend. If you can come out and help one day, or this Saturday, please let us know. Also, please invite some friends to come help too. We have the following projects:

• Sheathing on the front porch roof
• Framing upstairs walls
• Setting roof trusses
• Sheathing outside walls
• Sheathing roof

We have made up flyers to post all over your town- church, work, school, etc. Please let me know how many flyers you could hand out to friends or post around to encourage others to volunteer as staff this summer!

Wanted: Someone to make the camper photo albums for all six weeks of camp. We would like to start working with this volunteer to get everything set up for making 16-20 photo albums per week of camp. You would be working in the air conditioned camp office, and would get to know the campers by face and name! The photo albums are a real highlight to the campers and help preserve their happy memories for years to come.

This volunteer job would not require the person to stay overnight at camp, but work from 2-5pm on Mondays, and 9am-5pm Tues, Wed, and Thurs of each week. Camp runs 4 weeks in June and 2 weeks in July. If the volunteer wanted to stay at camp, they could join the support staff in their evening activities. We would encourage the volunteer to raise missionary support for their six weeks of service (we have info to help you do this). We make the albums using a template in Microsoft Publisher and then printing out the pages and putting them in sleeve protectors in 3 ring binders. It would be helpful if the volunteer was familiar with Microsoft programs.

We have some specific needs for camp this summer in the way of crafts, educational supplies, and teachers for life skills classes. Please look over the list and see if you or someone you know might be able to help…

Life Skills teachers

During Senior camper weeks we teach life skills and need:

• Ladies to help teach cooking and sewing and other life skills from 1-2 pm on June 3-5 (Tues, Wed, Thurs afternoons).
• Need men to teach mechanics and woodworking from 1-2 pm on June 10-12 (Tues, Wed, Thurs afternoons).

Educational Supplies

We would like to enhance our Nature Center with some displays, books, animal skins and skulls, and would like to have an ant farm. We have several posters from the MO Conservation Dept., and several aquariums for reptiles and fish. If you have any items you could donate to our Nature Center, please let us know.

Wood Craft

Because of our Medieval theme this summer, we chose a sheild craft for the junior boy campers, but we need a volunteer to cut out 40 small sheilds from thin plywood. The campers will paint these with their own “Coat of Arms”. If you have woodworking equipment and can help please call.

King’s Market

To go along with our theme, we will have a “market” for the campers to be able to shop in and use the “coins” they earned from memorizing verses and good character, to purchase items in the market. We are looking for donations of new items: trinkets, small toys, childrens books or CD’s
